Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) presented a new Corona regulation on Friday. Until mid-January 2023, the measures remain.
Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) presented a new Corona regulation Friday before the current Corona rules expire on October 23. Essentially, the government’s measures to fight the virus, as they currently stand, will remain in place until Jan. 15, 2023. The FFP2 mask obligation in hospitals, older adults, and nursing homes, as well as medical practices, thus remains further valid; for interior areas, the mask is only recommended.
However, there is one change because the exceptions from churches are newly regulated – due to the findings of the Constitutional Court (VfGH). According to this, the Corona-related ban on entering cultural institutions had been contrary to equality – because churches and religious communities had been generally exempted from the rules. In the new regulation, “gatherings for the practice of religion” are now also considered.
